Proclamation, Honoring Resolution, and Certificate

All requests for Proclamations, honoring Resolutions, and Certificates are subject to approval by the Ocean County Board of Commissioners.
Before completing the form, please review the brief explanations below to help determine which type of recognition is most appropriate for your request:
Explanation of Recognition Types
Proclamation:
(May or may not be listed on a Board Meeting agenda; does not require a majority vote of the Board)
An official declaration recognizing a specific day, week, or month; honoring community events; or highlighting public awareness campaigns. Proclamations are broad in scope and raise awareness or celebrate a cause.
Examples:
- Proclaiming the year 2025 as the 175th anniversary of Ocean County;
- Proclaiming March 2025 as “Women’s History Month” in Ocean County
Honoring Resolution:
(Listed on Board Meeting agendas; requires a majority vote of the Board)
A formal written action adopted by the governing body, often used for significant recognitions, dedications, or policy-related matters. Resolutions carry more permanence than proclamations.
Examples:
- Honoring Stephanie Mongiello Wauters as the 2024 Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Grand Marshal, given by the Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Committee;
- Honoring Joseph Buckelew's dedicated service to Ocean County
Certificate:
(Are not listed on the Board Meeting agendas – do not require a vote of the Board)
A personalized recognition of an individual, group, or organization for achievements, service, retirements, anniversaries, or milestones. Certificates are less formal but tailored to the honoree.
Examples:
- Business grand openings/ribbon cuttings
- Scout awards
- Scholarships
- Teacher of the year
- Award recipients
